Description:
The global environment is changing at a historical level. To get a better understanding, we must improve our capability to monitor and predict the impacts of the changes on each component. Thanks to the advanced sensing technology, petabytes of data have been accumulated. Although the volume is impressive, it might be not that useful when it comes to real-life action assisting. Actionable data that can lead to wise and seasonable actions in a particular location and time is the most valuable information. However, the methods for finding actionable data are far from being mature. Scientific community is calling for new approaches and technique to tackle grand environment challenges, such as forecasting extreme climate events, increasing farm productivity and sustainability, monitoring emissions from space, enabling smart agriculture, monitoring land cover, forests, aerosols, soil, modelling agriculture-human interaction, assisting policy making, and guide markets to a healthier and environment-friendly direction. Right now, there is no universal solution to accomplish any of these grand tasks.
