Abstract
Existing literature has extensively explored the influence of REDD+ projects on forest-dependent communities, but the gender dimension of the projects is less explored. Using data from a longitudinal study of subnational REDD+ projects in 6 countries, this study aims to explore their gendered impact on the perception of forest cover and quality. The study will use a before-after-control-intervention (BACI) design for comparative research on forest health, where data from focus groups with villages and women will allow a gendered comparison of the perception of forest health and outcomes of the REDD+ projects. Findings from this study are expected to highlight the need to incorporate gender as a crucial part of future REDD+ projects.
