Description:
The environment is always changing and in need of regular monitoring and measurement to assess anthropogenic and natural impacts. With the advancement of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), many remote sensing data collection parameters are now in the hands of general users. Dynamic environmental change can now be monitored at regular intervals and lower cost. sUAS derived products are being increasingly used to assess forest, wetland, coast, and many other environments.
This session welcomes both practically-based environmental research using sUAS and sUAS remote sensing technical research for improvement of environmental mapping. Potential session topics include, but not limited to:
• Experimentation of sUAS operations for optimal environmental monitoring
• sUAS data collection in various environments
• Incorporation of machine learning/deep learning for sUAS data processing
• sUAS point cloud and 3D mapping
• Biophysical quantification using sUAS imagery
• Other sUAS-related applications
