Description:
Thinking about Feminist Comparative Urban Research II: Knowledge production in the GenUrb Project
Chair: Anindita Datta
In this panel session, we explore feminist urban approaches to research with a focus on the GenUrb project (Urbanisation, Gender and the global south: a transformative knowledge network). Working across race, class, sexuality and gender, the members of this project have been conducting research for a three-year period in in a range of small, mid-sized and mega cities, namely Cochabamba, Delhi, Georgetown (Guyana), Ibadan, Ramallah and Shanghai. Our aim in this session is to explore different ways of producing knowledge in the GenUrb project. We explore our use of NVivo in qualitative data analysis, our production of the GenUrb Research Training Modules, our use of case studies in a comparative approach to local adaptation of the SDGs (particularly SDG 5 & SDG 11) and our use of storytelling to disrupt the known.
