Description:
Observed neighborhood changes are largely driven by the in- and out- migration of residents. Residential location decisions are a product of individual, housing, neighborhood (at various spatial scales), and metropolitan characteristics. These choices are often constrained by discriminatory practices, differing levels of information, and other often invisible or hard to measure, exogenous factors. The emergence of new micro-geographic datasets has opened the door for neighborhood analyses to move beyond the ‘tyranny’ of the fixed neighborhood boundary (Petrovic et al., 2020) and apprehend multi-scalar perspectives on residential sorting analyses and subsequent neighborhood changes.
We welcome papers that explore these issues including, but not limited to the following topics:
• The use of novel datasets to further our understanding on processes of change
• Residential Choice Modeling
• Residential Stated Preference Surveys
• Multi-scalar neighborhood analyses
• The role of amenities in sorting outcomes
• Public and private investments in neighborhood change
• Mixed-methods studies on neighborhood change
