Abstract
In the past 10 years the number and variety of open source tools to work with geospatial data has exploded. This ecosystem allows developers and programmers to make highly sophisticated web apps and analysis pipelines that empower decision makers, illuminate social issues and educate the public.
At the same time, the complexity of these tools can often be intimidating to newcomers or those not trained programing and development. This can mean that non-protits, academics and others might fail to capitalize on these solutions or fail to share the value of their work with the wider community.
Matico is an attempt to change that. Designed as a modular federated platform, it leverages emerging technologies such as WebAssembly, geospatail binary formats and browser based visualization and processing, to allow anyone to produce complex spatial apps while retaining ownership and control of their data.
Come to this talk to see what the platform can do, our decentralized federated approach to data ownership and permissioned access and help us shape the future of the platform.
