The AAG Geomorphology Specialty Group annually hosts a distinguished lecture on the theme of Geomorphology and Society. Professor Ellen Wohl (Colorado State University, Warner College of Natural Resources) will be giving the distinguished lecture at the 2022 annual meeting. Professor Wohl was the 2020 recipient of the GSG's Melvin G. Marcus Distinguished Career Award for her internationally recognized research in physical-ecological interactions in river ecosystems, including the effects of beavers in rivers, geomorphic complexity and its influence on organic carbon storage, and large wood in rivers. Her research has taken place in the Front Range of Colorado and Rocky Mountains National Park and the Pacific Northwest, in the U.S., and Panama and Costa Rica.
