Description:
Geographical Information Systems provides technical solutions to help decision-makers understand interactions between spatial and cultural factors in spatial decision-making processes. However, computational challenges often exist in deriving knowledge from geospatial data that often comes from various data sources that comes in different formats and scales. A CyberGIS-enabled spatial decision support system (SDSS) represents a framework for integrating advanced cyberinfrastructure, spatial analytical capabilities, spatial and non-spatial data management system, domain knowledge base, and spatial visualization system to tackle challenging decision problems that involve global changes which are geospatially heterogeneous and interdependent. The recent advances in geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) and decision-making models have great potential to add a smart analytical core to a CyberGIS-enabled SDSS. An example of such a GeoAI system is the identification of typical spatial decision making tasks and how they relate to each other.
This session aims to bring together interested researchers to present and discuss the latest progress and insights on using GeoAI and/or CyberGIS for advancing spatial decision making. This session is part of the AAG 2022 Symposium on Data-Intensive Geospatial Understanding in the Era of AI and CyberGIS.
