Abstract

This presentation will use 2010 and 2020 census data to examine population change in metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas as delineated by the Office of Management and Budget in March 2020. It will briefly review relevant terminology as well as broad trends in the U.S. population over the ten-year period. The presentation then will describe metropolitan and micropolitan statistical area population change by region. It also will focus on population change in individual areas, particularly the most populous and the fastest growing. The presentation will conclude with a discussion of major findings.
