Abstract
This presentation will focus on combined statistical areas and changes in their populations, based on the March 2020 Office of Management and Budget delineations of metropolitan statistical areas, micropolitan statistical areas, and combined statistical areas, as well as 2010 and 2020 census data. Combined statistical areas are groupings of adjacent metropolitan and/or micropolitan statistical areas that have social and economic ties as measured by commuting, but at lower levels than are required for counties to qualify within an individual metropolitan or micropolitan statistical area. After introducing combined statistical areas, the presentation will analyze combined statistical area population change between 2010 and 2020 and discuss the results of the analysis.
