Abstract
This article aims to include preliminary discussions and research related to the study of racial relations, gender and sexualities in teacher education to understand the importance of these themes in pedagogical theories and practices in schools and universities in Brazil. Geography studies space and the relationships engendered in it, it has the challenge of contributing with analyzes that consider intersectionalities as constitutive dimensions of space and condition relations of inequality, prejudice and discrimination. We consider studies and researches that deal with gender and race relations in the constitution of territorialities, experiences and spatialities in geographic analysis. In addition, we investigate the presence of ethnic-racial, gender and sexuality themes in school geography and in teaching geography, based on a conception of teacher education and the advancement of educational public policies that aim at valuing differences. The methodology used to carry out these researches consists of a bibliographic survey and information gathering from the theses and dissertations directories of Brazilian universities. In Brazilian educational policy, the racial issue, the discussion of gender and sexuality, were finally referenced during the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, however, in the current context, we witness a suppression of such discussions in the school environment, as well as a scarce geographic production on such themes at school. In this sense, we aim to discuss and problematize such gaps.
