Abstract
The COVID pandemic limited spatial and interactive learning experiences essential for geography education. To address this challenge, a new curriculum integrates primary sources with group research projects and discussions. Primary sources help students relate in a personal way to events of the past and promote a deeper understanding of social impacts of environmental processes. This session will explore the Library of Congress vast digital collection of primary sources and guide participants on how to use them to build inquiry, critical thinking and analytical skills. Participants will learn how to search for and utilize primary source data including photographs, maps, articles and more. Participants will review ready-to-implement lessons and educational resources focusing on earth and environmental science.
