Abstract
In the first half of 2021, Taiwan experienced its worst drought event in more than half a century. The water crisis was largely due to the fact that no typhoons made landfall on Taiwan in 2020, and water restrictions were applied in parts of Taiwan. As climate extremes like droughts and typhoons are influenced by climate change, this 2021 drought event in Taiwan provides a good case study to investigate how people’s perception of drought events is related to their perceptions of climate change. This study, thus, answer the abovementioned research question by using a survey data set collected in August, 2021. The results of the study will be presented in the presentation.
