Abstract
Often overlooked for finding "microdata", the Census Bureau's statistical geography, the PUMA (Public Use Microdata Area) can be used to find extra data about areas around the nation. This presentation explains the Census Bureau's PUMA geography; how it is created and then used to disseminate Census data. For data distribution, the presentation will explain population threshold factors; and why more data is available at a PUMA level. A demonstration of data.census.gov will show how to locate the PUMA census data, and how to download it -- and even map it directly in the Census portal. Topics and variables are included in PUMA data when they are not normally included in other tables, and often help users get to an answer they really need.
