Abstract
The growth of the gig economy is one of the most impressive symbols for the Chinese economy in recent years. The success of Chinese multinational internet companies such as Alibaba, Tencent, Bytedance, has led to a big wave of venture capital, investments, and new registrations for Internet startups, a key node in the cyberinfrastructure of digital business. A key question for geographers is, has the future of the startups already been destined due to the location decision? This paper applies a Spatio-temporal perspective analyzing the geographical feature of Chinese internet startups from 2010 and spatial factors that led to the different outcomes of these enterprises. A GIS-based trend analysis is used to pinpoint key factors affecting the lifespan and continuity of Internet startups. Relevant policy recommendations and critical comments on existing policies conclude the discussion.
