Abstract
With the advent of California’s Voter’s Choice Act (Senate Bill 450) and its fourteen mandated criteria for achieving increased voter turnout and voter parity when siting new ballot dropoff box locations, the Santa Cruz County Elections Department looked to use GIS to determine the locations of seven new ballot dropoff boxes - augmenting the current eight. Results of the 2020 general election were used to determine the efficacy of the state-mandated criteria in achieving their goals of increased voter turnout and voter parity. This paper presents the spatial analysis used to determine the efficacy of the current ballot dropoff box sites.
