The Enhanced Priority Risk Index was developed to integrate a vulnerability and consequence analysis into the final score for quantifying risk to a particular hazard within a specific community. The new index augments the previous index, Priority Risk Index, by adding a sixth category of vulnerability. This category is calculated from a vulnerability and consequence analysis of impacts on seven sectors identified in Standard 4.1.2 of the Emergency Management Accreditation Program by ranking impacts by sector from low (1) to very high (4), and then applying a weighting factor to each sector. This score is then added to the Enhanced Priority Risk Index to provide risk levels based on the number of exploitable weaknesses and countermeasures identified within a jurisdiction. The Enhanced Priority Risk Index has been utilized in several hazard mitigation projects since its inception. This study aims to review the results of these plans and compare the final Enhanced Priority Risk Index scores with the Priority Risk Index scores.
